COVID-19 has changed how we celebrate holidays and events. Easter was very different for most of us, along with anyone celebrating a birthday. It’s special occassions that really make us feel the impact of social distancing. While it can be frustrating, we know its for the greater good. And we also know there are still ways to celebrate during these times. Many have turned to “drive by celebrations” or “virtual celebrations”.
Mother’s Days is around the corner – and for many of us, it means not spending it with our mother’s. For me, this is a normal occurrence as I live in a different province than my mother. But for others, this will be a difficult day. However, for many, a phone or video call, card in the mail, or drive by hello from a distance will have to do. But if you want to get that extraordinary Mother in your life an extra special gift, I have a few suggestions – and most which will not break the bank.
Let’s start with the cookbook stand. My husband bought me this one for Christmas and I can’t recommend it enough. It is my absolute favourite and a great gift for the chef of your family. It’s from Crate & Barrel and is $39.95 USD
Next up is a bathrobe. For me, I find that either they are too fluffy and warm, or too thin and cold. This one is the perfect mix. Thin but with a tiny bit of terry on the inside for that after shower chill It’s the Bliss Turkish Towel robe from Olive and Linen and you can order it on sale right now for $88 USD.
For the reusable market bags, there are two company’s that I have ordered from in the past. I love these for those eco-friendly mom’s out there who want to do their part to reduce the impact on the environment. These companies are both Canadian, one from here in Montreal. The first is the company The Market Bags. They have a great starter package for $57 CAD. If you check out their site, they also have other reusable bags with cute designs.
Another local favourite of mine is Dans le Sac. They also have a starter package for $35 CAD.
Now onto one of my favourite Canadian companies, Saje. Their commitment to natural wellness products is admirable and they have such a great selection of different products for yourself and your home. I love so many of their products, but here are a couple perfect gift ideas.
The Saje Wellness 101 Kit for $60 CAD
The Saje Pocket Farmacy for $65 CAD
For other great Mother’s Day gifts, Chapters Indigo is a great place to visit. Either in-store or online – but for the moment online only. They always have great seasonal items for every occasion at reasonable prices. Something I have my eye on right now is this beautiful terrazzo planter for $27.65 CAD. Terrazzo is a great way to bring a little bit of fun and colour into a more neutral space.
This can be complimented with this cute gardening set for $39.50
But if your looking for something a little more practical on the gardening front, this gardening set from Canadian Tire gives you more for less. This set of 3 tools is $24.99 CAD. Canadian Tire is another great option for gift ideas due to their large selection of home and outdoor living items, with reasonable prices and great sales.
These are just a sampling of things that would make great gifts for Mother’s Day. Whether your looking for a gift for your own mother, or wanting to give hints to your kids – these items are some of my personal favourites and most won’t break the bank.
To all the Mother’s out there, Happy Mother’s Day! I know during this unprecedented time we may not get to be with our loved ones, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate these special women in our lives.
Just a small note that this post is not sponsored in any way and all of the above items I either own or are looking to purchase myself.
