You know what they say…”When it rains, it pours!? It’s actually a pretty fitting analogy for not only Rekreated Design but also the weather here in Montreal this winter. I have never seen a winter this rainy and not just a bit of rain – like 10 -15 mm each time. Its quite unusual – well at least for the 10 years that I have been here.
But back to what’s in store for 2017…the great news is that design jobs started to pick up at the end of last year. I was asked to consult on a kitchen and bathroom and actually provided the bathroom plans to the contractor. It ended up that an annoying beam totally ruined all the plans and the client made a split decision to go back to the previous layout. Ahh, the joys of renovating.
I’ve also been helping my best friend finalize layouts and designs for a full kitchen and bathroom renovation. They are figuring out whether to stay in their homes or sell. Selfishly, I’m hoping that they love their new spaces and decide to stay because where they are is much closer to me than where they plan to move. LOL! So I’m making sure that everything is to her tastes and preferences (even if its forgoing my own recommendations) to keep her close.
I have a couple other smaller jobs (one starting and one finishing). So lots of things going on for me on the design front.
In terms of my full-time job – things are also going very well. I’ve been able to manage everything so much better and stress is no longer getting the best of me. I’m looking forward to all the new challenges 2017 will bring there. So long as I can get fully rid of these stomach issues that have bothered me since my gastro over the holidays.Just
On the personal side, we have a lot of small trips planned for the rest of the winter. We have skiing and snowboarding with my brother and his family at the end of January in Mont-Tremblant. The weekend after we are in Ottawa for my daughter’s hockey tournament and then for March break, we are headed out to Quebec City for some fun with great friends of ours. Now that the kids are older, its so much easier to take them places and do different things, so I’m looking forward to doing more of that this year.
And finally, there may be a big project coming up that a friend of mine and I will take on. If we do, you are going to be able to hear all about it, and follow along during the project – maybe even give input on to some of the decisions. We are still working out some of the details but I will keep you up to date if and when we have a final “GO”.
So all in all, very exciting stuff coming up for 2017. I’m looking forward to a bit more happening with Rekreated Design, and also with my professional and personal life. And of course, lots of fun with family and friends. So stay tuned.
Wishing all my followers good vibes and success for 2017.
